Placing material on Reserve through the West Campus Library
Instructors may request that materials be put on print or electronic reserves for courses currently being taught. They are also encouraged to make use of individual accounts in Ares, the electronic reserves system, to manage their own electronic reserves. To do so, they need only inquire of library staff at the Course Reserves & Current Periodicals desk.
Use the
Reserve Request Form to list all materials to be placed on reserve for the term. The information on the Reserve Request Form is required for both print and electronic materials. The form is also available at the appropriate Reserves Service desk.
Reserve materials are available only for the semester in which the class is taught. Faculty members may not request that Reserves/E-Reserves provide access to copies of the same material for successive terms unless copyright permission is obtained.
For large classes, where more than one copy of a title is needed, a limited number of paper copies may be made available consistent with fair use and copyright provisions.
To allow sufficient time for acquiring and processing materials, please submit the reserves list for each course at least 4 weeks before the start of the term. If new books or additional copies are needed, please submit the request 4 weeks before the start of the term.
For requests received after the semester has started, please allow at least 48 hours before assigning materials that have been submitted for reserve.
